YOU'RE PROBABLY WONDERING...WHO IS THIS KENMARC and what's the big deal that he's fifty-five?

I guess it's time for a slight correction. Fifty-five.....that's so back then it isn't funny. Kenmarc is nearly SIXTY-FOUR!

I HAVE OFTEN HAD THAT VERY THOUGHT, but as I found out, if you can make it to this point and keep your sense of humor, then you have achieved something genuine. Consequently, I feel that I have something valuable to share with the world.

AND SO, FOR YOU, THE INSATIABLY CURIOUS, we should start with the obvious:

  • NAME: Kenneth Marc Levy (a.k.a. Kenmarc)
  • DATE OF BIRTH: June 5, 1948
  • PLACE OF BIRTH: Newton, Massachusetts
  • HEIGHT: 6' 1" and shrinking (Damn that gravity!)
  • WEIGHT: 160#
  • EYES: 2 - both brown
  • HAIR: Still there, still curly - but now, "Salt & Pepper"

THERE'S MORE OF THIS KIND OF CRAP AVAILABLE IN THIS SITE. JUST FOLLOW THE LINKS BELOW.

FAVORITES: You know the stuff I mean, even if you haven't a clue as to the particulars.

  • POET  Walt Whitman - Leaves of Grass, 1855 edition - This is a must read for anyone with a "cosmic" orientation. In particular, Song of Myself.

  • TV SHOWS  Oh yes, I do watch TV. In fact I LOVE TV. And while my list of faves probably contains many programs and performances that are on your list, too, I'll betcha I'm still full of surprises, if not full of shit.
  • BOOKS  And I don't mean "e-books." It's good ol' paper that makes a book a book. For portablility and versatility, you can't beat a book. Read them anywhere: in a chair, beneath the shady branches of a tree, under a streetlamp; books are people, too. Real people, putting their beliefs, feelings, and ideas on paper for all to share. So, read a goddamn book, or, better yet, WRITE ONE!

  • MOVIES - Let's all go to the movies! It's just too bad the movie palaces are mostly gone. Yes it's true, I rent videos, too, so I will watch a film on TV,but it's these cineplex operations with their small auditoriums and small screens that just don't hack it. Movies are supposed to be larger than life. That's LARGER, not a wee bit bigger than life. So here's my list of the best I've seen, and I'm sure you'll disagree.

  • MUSIC - I often tell people I hate music, and in fact, the opposite is true. The only problem I have with it is this: I can't not pay attention to it. If it's on in the background, then it's in my foreground.

  • WHY MAUI? - An attempt to answer the question, "What's a nice Jewish boy like me doing in a place like this?"

MORE STUFF THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE OF INTEREST

  • WHO WROTE THE BIBLE - Oy! Is this a can of worms. Where to begin.....you know, things aren't always the way we're told they are. Remember the Easter Bunny? Well, there's some other stuff I think you ought to know. But if you think having the rug pulled out from under you will be unpleasant, you'd better not go.

  • MY VIETNAM - I sometimes forget that I was in VietNam during the height of the war. Not that I've had to push bad memories to the back of my mind. No, not exactly. It just was so very long ago, and I've smoked so many joints since then, it's a minor miracle that I remember anything at all.
  • YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE FRIENDS - This is especially true if you're mostly a single guy, like myself. And so, I consider myself fortunate to have made a small handful of very good friends, and I'd like you to meet a few.

  • HOW POT SAVED MY DOG'S LIFE - In the past few years there's been a push to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes. I say, "Damn right!" Pot saved my dog's life. Read on, ye stoners, and rejoice!

  • CENTERED BEING, EH? - This is just a pointless rumination on cosmology, which should not be confused with . . .

  • BEING CENTERED - Equally pointless, but perhaps insightful tale of my personal exploration of matters "cosmic."
  • A NICE JEWISH BOY FROM THE SUBURBS - I must tell you, I'm very glad I'm Jewish. Besides the pride one feels in one's people and their contribution to our common culture, there is an advantage to being raised as a minority in a larger culture (in this case, being Jewish in Christian America.) That advantage is a healthy scepticism of the beliefs held by the cultural majority.

    A STORY ABOUT

    MY EARLY LIFE

    VERY BRIEFLY, MY EXPERIENCE OF
    ANTI-SEMITISM IN AMERICA

  • ODDS & ENDS - Of course, there's got to be someplace to put the wierd shit that doesn't seem to fit anywhere. And a few words on recent events seems appropriate.
